Find a selection of diesel oil, additives and fluids, including synthetic and conventional diesel engine oil, diesel coolants and antifreeze, and more.
How are diesel oil, additives, and fluid different from non-diesel?
Diesel oil has a higher viscosity and lower temperature pumpability compared to non-diesel oils and fluids. This is because diesel engines are harder on oil. The additives are similar in diesel and non-diesel oil, but diesel oil has a higher concentration of them. Diesel fuel additives are designed to meet the demands of diesel engines and their emissions systems.
Can you use regular motor oil and fluids with diesel engines?
Regular motor oil and fluids can be used with diesel engines only if the oil meets the minimum requirements specified by the diesel engine’s manufacturer. Some diesel engines are not designed to use standard motor oil and fluids and can lead to increased wear and tear, so it’s best to use oil made for diesel engines like synthetic diesel engine oilor diesel conventional oil.
How much does a diesel oil change cost? Can I do it at home? The cost of getting a diesel oil change will vary based on your vehicle’s make and model. You can schedule an appointment at your local Canadian Tire Auto Service Centre and have one of our professionals perform the oil change for you. If you prefer the more cost-effective option, a diesel oil change is something you can do in your home garage. For more information, see our guide on How to Change Your Oil.
