From the very first time you gently place your baby in a rear-facing infant car seat to the moment you transition them to a booster seat, you want to feel confident they are secure and at ease.
At Canadian Tire, your little one’s safety and comfort are our priority. Our entire line of baby car seats and booster seats are certified and comply with Canadian safety regulations as outlined by Transport Canada. Our car seat accessories, from seat protectors to blind rollers and back seat mirrors, offer incredible practicality and convenience.
What should I look for when buying a car seat, and how can I be sure it fits in my car?
Whether you have a newborn, a toddler, or a preschooler, the most important things to know when buying a car seat are their age, weight, and height because they will determine what type of seat you will need. Before purchasing, review your province’s regulations on child and booster seats since they vary by province. Our How to Choose a Car Seat guide has even more helpful tips.
To ensure that the car seat fits your vehicle and for proper installation, follow your vehicle’s and car seat’s guidelines. At Canadian Tire, you'll find a car seat for every stage of your child’s life. We offer a wide range of safety seats, from infant car seats and toddler car seats to convertible seats, all-in-one car seats, booster seats and much more. For more information on choosing the best seat for your child, see our guide on How to Choose a Car Seat.
What type of car seat should I buy a one-year-old?
Convertible car seats are a great option for your 1-year-old if they have outgrown their infant car seats. Keep your 1-year-old in a rear-facing position until they outgrow the weight or height requirements.
What type of car seat should I buy a four-year-old?
If your 4-year-old has outgrown their forward-facing car seat and is at least 40lbs, they may be ready for a booster seat. A high-back booster with a harness will help children who are transitioning from a forward-facing car seat to a booster seat feel more secure.
