How to Choose a Bathtub Spout

What are the different types of bathtub spouts?

The different types of bathtub spouts are slip-on and screw-on spouts with or without diverters. The difference between slip-on and screw-on is how they are installed on the water supply pipe.

What sizes do bathtub spouts come in?

Tub spouts come in a universal size that works with 1/2-inch modern water supply pipes. To make sure you've got the right type, check to see if your water supply line is threaded (for screw-on spouts) or unthreaded (for slip-on spouts).

What is the difference between a diverter and a non-diverter spout?

A diverter spout has a rod you can pull up or push down to divert water flow to the showerhead in your tub. These are good to have if you intend to use your tub for showering, and don't have a separate water supply line for the showerhead.
