What is the CFL?

The CFL stands for the Canadian Football League – a professional sports league in Canada that is considered the highest level of competition in Canadian football. In comparison to the NFL (National Football League) that deals with American football, there are differences in the rules, field, and overall game. While the NFL has 32 teams, the CFL has 9.

What are some of the most popular CFL teams?

The CFL consists of the Saskatchewan Roughriders, Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Edmonton Elks, BC Lions, Toronto Argonauts, Calgary Stampeders, Montreal Alouettes, and Ottawa Redblacks. The Argonauts are North America’s oldest professional football team and have won the most championships. According to the Bleacher Report, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers are said to constantly sellout stadiums and have the most dedicated fans in the league. They recently won the Grey Cup two years in a row, in 2019 and 2021 (2020 season was cancelled). The BC Lions and Edmonton Elks have a big rivalry, and both teams play in the largest stadiums in the league with 54,000 and 56,000 capacities.
