Are plastic sleds safe for kids and adults?

Yes. Most plastic sleds are constructed from sturdy, freeze-resistant molded plastic, ensuring your sled won’t crack or chip in below-freezing temperatures. For added safety while sledding, always position yourself feet-first while facing forward, and make sure the terrain you’re sledding on is free of rocks, debris, trees, or other potential hazards.

What's the difference between foam and plastic sleds?

Plastic sleds are generally the lighter and quicker sled option, as they create less friction between you and the snow. Plastic sleds are typically made from high-density moulded plastic materials and can be ridden over slightly rougher terrain while withstanding plenty of use. Alternatively, foam sleds are made from a soft, lightweight foam that’s often sandwiched between thin plastic. Foam sleds are best suited for the younger rider, as they provide a softer and safer surface to ride on. Although not as fast on the slopes as plastic sleds, foam sleds are durably made and designed to withstand rugged terrain and plenty of trips down the hill.
