Do I need security cameras?

Security cameras let you keep an eye on your property to make sure it's safe, and they can also discourage burglars and break-ins.

What are the different types of security cameras?

The two main types of security camera are:

Smart security cameras which connect to Wi-Fi and are controlled via an app on your smartphone, tablet, or laptop.

CCTV security cameras that operate on a closed circuit and record directly to a device in your home.

What features should I look for when buying security cameras?

Make sure the resolution is high enough that you can clearly see what's happening. You will also want to ensure the viewing angle on cameras is enough to cover your home, especially outdoors. For outdoor lights, you may also want built-in LED floodlights.

Do home security cameras have to be connected to Wi-Fi?

CCTV style cameras don't need a Wi-Fi connection and will record directly to a dedicated box. Smart security cameras require a Wi-Fi connection to operate.

What do I need to install security cameras?

You'll need a drill or screwdriver, and possibly mounting hardware or anchors to securely mount cameras outdoors. Indoor cameras are usually placed on flat surfaces like windowsills or shelves.
