What arrows are best for my bow?

When choosing the right arrow for your bow, there are a few important factors to consider first. If you’re using a recurve bow, carbon arrows are usually the best choice. Carbon arrows are known for being accurate and tend to be more durable than fibreglass arrows. If you’re using a compound bow, carbon arrows or aluminum arrows will work well. Aluminum arrows are more often used when bowhunting, while carbon arrows are usually preferred for target shooting. If you’re using a traditional longbow, classic wooden arrows can be used, but these bows can usually use carbon arrows as well. 

What are the parts of an arrow?

Archery arrows are typically made up of four parts: the point, the nock, the shaft, and the fletching. The arrow point (or arrowhead) is the sharp tip of the arrow. There are several different types of arrow points designed for different uses, from hunting to target practice. The nock is the slotted tip at the back end of the arrow that clips onto your bowstring and holds your arrow in shooting position. The shaft is the spine of the arrow and makes up the largest part. Arrow shafts are built from aluminum, wood, fibreglass, or carbon, and come in a range of stiffnesses and weights depending on your needs and preferences. Finally, the fletching is located at the rear of the arrow and is usually made from feathers or plastic. The fletching helps put some spin on your arrow when shot, while also producing drag – which together helps improve overall accuracy.

What size arrows should I use?

The optimal arrow size is most accurately determined by the weight, size, and style of bow you’re using. Generally, a heavier bow will require heavier arrows, while a lighter bow works best with light arrows. The style of your bow should also be factored in, as recurve bows are typically smaller and thus require smaller arrows. On the other hand, compound bows tend to be larger, and therefore work best when shooting arrows that are longer and stiffer. Similarly, if you’re bowhunting, a heavier weighted arrow is recommended for taking down game.
