How to choose the right grow light bulb

Keep your plants growing all year round with our wide selection of grow bulbs in a variety of sizes, wattages, and formats. A grow light (also known as a plant light) is designed to emit the wavelengths of light that plants need in order to grow.

What type of light is best for growing plants indoors?

LED grow lights offer the best blend of energy efficiency, intensity, and lifespan for growing plants indoors, and generate less heat than other types of bulbs.

What color light bulb will make plants grow faster?

Full spectrum lights make plants grow fastest. Violet-blue light can help plants grow faster, while red light can support flowering and budding. Full spectrum lights will emit both colours at the wavelengths most beneficial to plants.

Can any light bulb be used as a grow light?

Most common household light bulbs don't emit light in the right intensity or wavelengths to promote plant growth and won't work well as grow lights for indoor plants.

What should I look for when buying a plant grow light?

Energy efficiency is a good feature to keep in mind, as it can have a big impact on your electricity bill. Bulb type is important as well, LED bulbs offer the best blend of performance, efficiency, and price. Full spectrum bulbs will help plants grow better, and the brightness of the bulb will affect how many and what types of plants you'll be able to grow per bulb.
