Faulty fluorescent bulb.

Purchased this in 2025 and used with no problem for 5 or 6 weeks. Stored safely in original box over the year. This spring used it for 1 week and the bulb burned out.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Don't buy this

Light bulb burned out after 6 days of daytime use. Not easily replaceable. Also, the tiner function is useless - you can't set it to come on/off at specific times, it just has a 12 and an 18h button. Despite advertising the appropriate light spectrum, seedlings quickly (6d of use) became leggy. Only the seedlings directly under the light (1 row) seemed to get any light, despite the reflector. Should have read the other reviews first. Canadian Tire won't takei back & only offers store credit.

Heads up, within two or three weeks the 12 hour cycle would blow out making the product useless. Happens twice in a row . Wouldn’t buy this product!

Light bulb defective

I bought this product in November 24th, but the light bulb didn't work so Canadian Tire exchanged it for another bulb. So, in early December, I started using the light. It worked until yesterday and the light bulb stop working. It has worked for less than a month. I checked online for a replacement bulb and Canadian Tire doesn't sell one. I can't find my receipt so cannot take it back.

Q: How long is the bulb supposed to last? I've only had this on during the day for about a month and the bulb is all of a sudden emitting very little light. Google says it should run for 10000 hours! What do I replace it with? Is it just called T5?

  • A: We’ve owned the same unit for several years. Got replacement from Amazon a long wile ago but recently ran out. Having a hard time finding a replacement now and Canadian Tire does not carry the the 4’ bulb(actually 45.75”)

  • A: I don't have this product but I would say since it is fluorescent there is no way that you could grow from seed to ripe tomato or pepper fruit under this light. You could definitely get them started but they would likely be leggy. We are very happy with our LED lights that we purchased when our fluorescent light fixtures quit working. Maybe a little more expensive to purchase (but not much). Very inexpensive to run. Incredibly lightweight. I wish Canadian Tire had more LED grow light options.

Q: It says the bulb is 4 feet long. What width does the light reach? i.e. what size of containers can you put under the light so the light will adequately cover the plants?

  • A: Hello Gardengirl, I've used this grow light to overwinter plants for two winters. With the light at the highest it can go, I have plants in pots measuring 12 and 20 inches across that are adequately lit but they do need to be turned occasionally. Hope that helps!
