Car Waxing 101: everything you need to know

If you are a vehicle owner, then car waxing is an important part of maintaining your vehicle’s appearance. Waxing helps protect your car’s paint job from wear and tear, while also giving it a glossy shine.

While waxing may seem like a simple task, there are a few tips and tricks to keep in mind to get the best results.

Preparing your vehicle for waxing

Preparing your vehicle for waxing is the most important step. Here are some tips to get started:

· Thoroughly wash your car with car wash soap and water before waxing to get rid of any dirt or grime. Use a drying towel to dry off the car and remove any water spots.

· Clay bar the vehicle's surface to remove anything that has adhered or bonded to the paint, such as tar, sap, or insect residue. This will help ensure a smooth application of the wax.

· Make sure the car is cool before waxing, especially in hot weather. Wax should never be applied in direct sunlight because it will dry too quickly and streak or leave white spots on the paintjob.

Applying car wax: techniques and tips

When applying car wax, it's important to be methodical and consistent. An even coat is key, and using a circular motion helps to ensure that the wax is spread evenly across the paintwork. It's also important to apply the wax in thin layers, as this will enable the wax to dry quicker and be less likely to pool or streak. Here are some top tips for applying car wax:

· Take your time and work in small sections at a time.

· Use a soft cloth or applicator pad when applying the wax. Rubbing it on with your hands can damage the paintwork.

· Work on one panel of the car at a time until you have completed the entire outer surface.

· When buffing off, use a clean cloth or microfiber pads and work in circular motions for an even finish.

· Be sure to wash your polish applicator pads regularly so that any dirt or residue does not transfer onto the car's surface during application.
