Protect water systems in marine engines and RVs and plumbing at cottages over the winter with plumbing antifreeze. We have antifreeze designed for Canadian winters that will protect at temperatures down to -60°C.
What is plumbing antifreeze used for?
Plumbing antifreeze can be added to plumbing in boats, cottages, pools, and more to prevent water from freezing so pipes won't burst. Some plumbing antifreeze will also help prevent rust.
What is in plumbing antifreeze?
Plumbing antifreeze avoids the toxic alcohols used in automotive antifreeze, so it's safe to use in pipes and not flammable. Typically, plumbing antifreeze uses propylene glycol among other chemicals, which will slush in very cold weather but not totally freeze, preventing burst or cracked pipes. Check to make sure the antifreeze you're choosing is safe in metal, plastic, or both types of pipes.
Is it safe to put antifreeze in pipes?
It is safe to put plumbing antifreeze in pipes, with some non-toxic antifreezes even usable in drinking water pipes. When the weather warms up, simply drain and flush your pipes and they'll be ready for use.
Is plumbing antifreeze the same as auto antifreeze?
Plumbing antifreeze works on the same principles but isn't the same as auto antifreeze and shouldn't be used as a replacement.
