What does a dish soap do?

Liquid dish soap contains surfactants that lower the surface tension of water, allowing it to penetrate and break down grease and food particles. Some formulas also contain enzymes and antibacterial agents to boost their cleaning performance.

Should I use antibacterial dish soap?

Using antibacterial dish soap is a personal choice. Regular dish soap is just as effective at removing grease, food residue and stains from dishes. However, if you have specific concerns about foodborne illnesses, you may opt for antibacterial dish soap to kill or inhibit bacteria growth.
