There is quite a lot of gear used in hockey to make sure players’ wrists, hands, arms, legs, groin, mouth, and head are fully protected. Here is a list of hockey protective equipment you’ll need whilst on the ice:
• Helmet
• Mouthguard
• Face mask
• Shoulder pads
• Chest protection
• Arm pads/elbow pads
• Hockey pants
• Shin guards
• Hockey gloves
• Jock/jill/cup
Although hockey pants may sound like a part of apparel, they’re considered specialized protective hockey gear with different fits—wide fit, mid fit, and snug. They are made with a hard outer shell and padding. Fitting from knee to waist, they protect the thighs, hips, tailbones, and kidney area while allowing for a range of motion.
What equipment is used by hockey players to protect their hands?
Hockey gloves are made with thin leather with plenty of padding to protect the hands. The gloves also have reinforcers for the thumb, so they don’t bend backwards. They also provide good grip strength and control when holding a stick.
