Wall anchors make it easy to hang heavier items and secure furniture to walls. We have a range of drywall and concrete wall anchors to help you get the job done right.
What are the different types of wall anchor?
The four main types of wall anchor we carry include:
Hollow anchors, which are usually made of metal and expand behind walls when tightened.
Toggle bolt anchors have metal tabs that pop open when drilled into drywall, spreading the supported weight over a wider surface.
Plastic drywall anchors are designed to be drilled or pushed into drywall and have a threaded interior for a metal screw.
Concrete wall anchors are designed to be drilled directly into concrete or masonry, making them dependable and very stable.
Why are wall anchors important?
Wall anchors provide a solid and secure place to hang or install things such as art, mirrors, hooks, and even shelving. Since wall anchors are sturdier than other hanging hardware, they have a wide range of uses, from hanging items to securing bookshelves and other tall furniture.
What anchors are best for drywall?
Pop toggle or toggle bolt anchors are typically best for drywall, as they open behind the wall, spreading the weight of hanging items over a larger area to prevent damaging the wall.
When should you not use wall anchors?
You will want to avoid wall anchors when installing heavier, high value items like television mounts. For heavy items, you'll want to secure anchors and screws to wall studs.
How much weight can wall anchors hold?
How much weight a wall anchor can hold depends on the type of wall it's installed in, and the type of anchor. Check your wall's thickness and the manufacturer information for your anchor. Typically, plastic anchors can support from 10 to 15 pounds, while metal drywall anchors can hold between 25 to 50 pounds. Thin drywall will support less weight than thick drywall.
