What are soft baits?

They are a type of lure made from soft plastic, usually designed to look like baitfish or insects. Soft baits come in a range of colours, sizes, and styles

Do soft baits go bad?

Soft baits tend to last quite a while when they're stored properly and can stay in good condition for up to 4 years in their packaging. How long they remain useful depends on how often they're used, and they can stay useful as lures even after the plastic gets rigid.

Why use soft baits over hard baits?

Soft baits are ideal for shallow water and imitate baitfish more closely than metal or hard plastic bait. Since they're soft, they are good for realistic presentation, and you can rig soft baits in many ways to best suit your fishing style and desired catch. Soft baits are versatile and can be used with many different techniques including jigging and sight casting. Soft baits are also less expensive than hard baits, but less useful in deep water or strong currents.
