What supplies do I need to prepare for painting?

Depending on what you're painting, you may need wood filler or drywall repair kits to even out surfaces before applying paint. You'll also want to clean surfaces to remove dust, debris, and residue.

What is the best way to prep walls for painting?

If you'll be repainting, you'll want to use a wire brush or sandpaper to remove any aged or flaking paint. If the wall is dented or damaged, you may want to use filler or spackling to even the surface and fill holes. Finally, wipe the wall down to remove any residue, and it will be ready for painting.

How do you prepare a floor surface for painting?

If you're painting a finished wood floor, you'll need to sand down the finish enough to remove the gloss. As with walls, you'll want to make sure the floor is clean, and any holes or dents filled. Then sweep the floor to remove debris and dust. Concrete floors may require refinishing before painting.
