There are a variety of ways to preserve food, including drying and dehydrating, which is popular with herbs, and fruit, canning, fermenting, and freezing. Freezing is considered one of the most common, as it doesn’t require specialized equipment. As storing things in regular packaging can result in freezer burn or shorter shelf life, vacuum seal bags can help prevent ice formation and extend storage life by three to five times longer.

Can the same food saver for meats be used for dry food?

What foods should not be vacuum sealed?

•          Raw bananas and mushrooms

•          Whole apples – Most fruits in their whole form aren’t suitable for vacuum sealing, but apples especially need to be sliced first.

•          Raw onion and garlic
