Sealer bar died in the first month

Worked for about a month and then the sealer bar died completely. Do not buy.

It does the job

This product is great for meat. You have to experiment with it. Like where to place the bag when you want to seal it to make a new bag. That also goes for sealing too. The only thing I found out. That the foam cushions that help seal the end of the bags. They sometimes stick together after you clean the unit. And with like pork chops make sure the bones aren't sticking out. That goes with some steak cuts. For the price it will SAVE YOU on your first shop.

Excellent product

I have had this product for 3 years and have sealed well over thousand pounds of meat with it. I have mostly used it for meat products, everything from ground to sausage, bacon, roasts etc. the only thing I would say is when sealing anything wet in marinade that it's best to hit the seal button before the sealer sucks the liquid into the sealing area as the bags will not seal properly if wet.

A: I am a 67 year old woman and I have no real problem although I have to lean my weight on it before I hear the click. Would not stop me from recommending this product unless you are very very frail.

Q: Cuisinart Vacuum Sealer #499-0022-2 Does the unit use a wire to cut and seal the bags? I've had a couple other units and once the wire breaks the unit is scrap. If it has a wire is it replaceable by owner?
