What is the safest car seat for infants or newborns?

All infants must use a stage 1 car seat (rear-facing car seat). Both infant car seats and convertible car seats are suitable for newborns since they provide the same amount of safety, but infant car seats are specifically designed for newborns. They are made to remain rear-facing and typically come as a part of a travel system that allows parents to easily remove the seat from the car base and snap it to a stroller.

At what age do toddlers change car seats?

Once your toddler has outgrown the weight or height requirements of their rear-facing car seat and is at least 2 years old, they can change to a forward-facing car seat with a 5-point harness.

What age should a child be in a rear-facing car seat?

It is required by law that all newborns and infants ride in a rear-facing seat until they reach the maximum weight and height limit of the child car seat. It’s important to follow the manufacturer’s recommendations and the laws and regulations on child car seats in your province.

Additional information for residents of Quebec only: The regular annual rate for persons applying for the Triangle Mastercard and the Triangle World Elite Mastercard is 21.99% for cash transactions and related fees and 21.99% for all other charges. The minimum payment is the sum of (a) the greater of: (i) interest and fees shown on your statement + $10; or (ii) 5% of the New Balance, excluding amounts on special payment plans, (b) any balance over your credit limit, (c) any amounts past due not included in (b) above, and (d) the amount of any equal payments plan instalments then due.
