What types of cameras are used for automotive inspections?

Automotive inspection cameras come in various types and designs. Flexible borescopes have a flexile cable or probe with a camera at the end and are ideal for inspecting internal engine components, fuel systems, and other hard-to-reach areas. Rigid borescopes have a fixed straight tube and are often used for inspecting areas that are easier to access such as exhaust systems, undercarriages, and visible parts of the engine bay.

What is a borescope inspection camera?

A borescope is a specialized optical device used to visually inspect and examine hard-to-reach and confined spaces. It consists of a long tube or probe with a small camera at one end and an eyepiece or a display screen at the other end. The main purpose of a borescope is to allow users to see and assess areas that are not easily accessible.

What should I look for when buying an auto inspection or snake camera?

When buying a snake camera, consider the length and diameter of the probe as it will determine the reach and accessibility of the camera. Longer probes are suitable for inspecting deeper areas while thinner probes are ideal for navigating tight spaces.
