What is the difference between a steamer and an iron?
The main difference between these two items is that one uses steam from heated water while the traditional iron uses direct heat from iron plates.
A clothes steamer is a convenient way to loosen wrinkles while they are hanging on a rack. The steam loosens the threads and fibres that have tightened due to prolonged bunching or washing. A laundry steamer can be used on a variety of delicate as well as heavy weight fabrics. Whereas an iron uses direct manual pressure right on to the fabric, allowing one to achieve crisp lines and a smoother finish.
Is it better to iron or steam clothes?
Steaming is an effective way to get the wrinkles out from almost any fabric, but ironing clothes gives a tad better result. An iron gives you more control over the appliance in comparison to a steamer. However, the steamer is more versatile and easier to operate whereas ironing takes a bit more time and requires some expertise to not burn the fabric.
