Hamilton Beach 19910C 1800W Durathon Digital Iron

The HB 19910C replaced my Hamilton Beach Durathon Digital 1700W Iron 19900 which stopped working after 9 years of regular and sometimes intensive use. Reviewing all my purchasing options by reading reviews, seeing the irons personally to feel the weight, length of cord etc., I decided to once again purchase the Hamilton Beach brand. I would have loved if this model had a retractable cord, but my old model didn't have one either, so it's not like I am going to miss it. I really like the smooth soleplate and the amount of steam this iron puts out, which is particularly important when ironing cotton and linen. I also like that it can heat up to high temperatures for really stubborn wrinkles, but also handles synthetics with the low temperature setting. The auto shutoff is important to me, and so appreciate this feature. I was happy to be able to purchase the iron when it was on sale, and super happy to have been able to purchase it from a Canadian retailer that I admire and trust.

It’s replacing the old version that lasted for years I had. They have made a couple changes but I think the older model was better. The cord is not retractable and the water spout opens to the right side vs straight up like the older model, making it a little difficult to fill with water using a water cup as the opening is in the way . It’s still a great iron and I would have rated it a 5 if these two changes were not made.
