The best tee depends on the player and the shot they're trying to make. Having a selection of tees in different heights can be helpful for hitting drives to the right distance. Plastic tees can be more durable than hardwood but can litter or pollute the course if you lose them.

Pros do use tees of varying sizes and colours and tend to just use straight hardwood golf tees as they are the standard for the sport.

Are there illegal tees in golf?

According to most rules for golf, tees should never exceed 4 inches in height, can't affect the movement of the ball when hit, and can't indicate the line of play.

Do golf tees really make a difference?

Golf tees hold the ball off the turf allowing drives to have a higher trajectory and clear more ground. It's customary to use them for tee shots. Some courses may require that tees always be used to protect the green.

What should I consider when buying golf tees?

You'll want to consider the height of the tee if you want to make shorter or longer drives. Choosing between plastic or wood tees comes down to personal preference, with wood tees being biodegradable and plastic ones being more durable.
