What are the different types of pipe and tube cutters?

The different types of tube and pipe cutters are based on what they'll cut. PEX cutters are handled and typically also have a crimp tool built in. C-type cutters cut a fixed width of tubing and can be used with one hand in small spaces. Some cutters can be adjusted to a desired size with built-in screws or ratchets.

How do I know which pipe/tube cutter to use?

Check the tubing or pipe material you'll be cutting and choose a cutter that fits the size and can cut the material. Some cutters are designed for PVC or PEX tubing and won't work with metal pipes. Most important is choosing a tool that will fit the pipe or tube diameter.

Are tube cutters and pipe cutters the same thing?

There's a lot of crossover between the two types of tools, so you could say they're the same thing. However, not all tools can cut the same materials, so it's important to make sure the one you choose is up to the task.
