Can you mix pellets and wood chips?

It is not recommended to mix pellets and BBQ chips, as pellets are designed specifically for pellet grills and BBQs. Furthermore, different types of wood chips provide different flavours to what you’re cooking, for example apple, mesquite, hickory and more. Therefore, mixing these contrasting flavours can compromise the overall taste of your meal.

Should you soak BBQ wood chips?

It is not necessary to soak or wet your BBQ wood chips before you begin grilling. It can take at least 30 minutes for soaked wood to dry enough to begin smoking, which can delay your cooking process.

Can I use BBQ pellets instead of charcoal?

Yes. You can also mix BBQ pellets in with charcoal if you are using a charcoal grill. By doing this, you can create the best results regarding flavour and taste.
