Do I need both a snow brush and ice scraper?

Snow brushes and ice scrapers are crucial tools for your car in the winter months, especially in harsher climates. Snow brushes are useful for removing loose snow that accumulates on your vehicle’s windshield, roof, and hood so you can improve visibility and prevent snow from blowing on other cars whilst driving. Brushes have rows of bristles for effective brushing and a comfortable, ergonomic, and even extendable handle. On the other hand, ice scrapers are key in freezing conditions when you need to scrape off ice and frost from windows and your windshield. Do ice scrapers scratch your windows?

Ice scrapers are designated for use on cars, so they are generally safe to use on windows and the body of your car. It is best to avoid any metal materials and stick to lightweight, plastic scrapers. Metal tools may chip the paint off your car or create deep scratches in glass while plastic scrapers are designed to remove ice effectively and gently. If the ice is too thick or tough, simply run your vehicle on defrost for a few minutes to warm it up and make removal easier.
