How do I choose a trailer jack?

The first two things to consider when shopping for a trailer jack are weight capacity and length. Consider the length of the jack in the retracted and extended positions to make sure it will suit your needs. When the jack is in the extended position, it must be able to lift your coupler high enough for it to clear the hitch ball on the vehicle. Similarly, in the retracted position, it must pull back far enough to clear the ground when you hit the road.

How do you jack up a trailer?

The best way to jack up a trailer is to place the jack underneath the axle, behind the backing plate. Make sure to never use the jack on the axle tube and remember to use jack stands for optimal safety.

Are all trailer jacks the same size?

They are not, they come with different ratings for weight and lifting capacity.
