What size air compressor do I need for air tools?

The size of air compressor you need depends on how much you use air tools, what types of tools you'll be running, the length of operation you need, and the size of your space. A small air compressor with 1 to 6 gallons of capacity is fine for occasional use and won't take up much room. A 20-gallon or larger compressor can run demanding tools and provide higher airflow for longer but takes up more room.

How to find the right air compressor for my pneumatic tools?

First, you'll need to find a capacity that holds enough compressed air for your needs, how portable of a unit you'll need, and whether gas or electric is right for you. One of the most important things to look for in an air compressor is that the cubic feet per minute and pressure output are enough to run your tools. The horsepower rating of an air compressor corresponds to how powerful its motor is, and how quickly it will refill. What is the difference between electric and gas air compressors?

The main difference between electric and gas air compressors is that gas air compressors are more portable since they can be used far away from electrical outlets or generators. Electric air compressors are the best option for indoor use since they don't generate exhaust fumes.
