Given to me as a gift. Box had been opened ( more than once if the different packing tapes are counted ) and, there was no instruction manual or warranty card. The flap covering the toolbox had a broken hinge on it's right side. Not a great start. But the compressor and regulator seemed to work fine.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Very quiet and good quality compressor

Very happy and surprised at how quiet the compressor is. Pumps up fast and works well. Only downside is the on/off switch is loose and can rattle alittle. But that’s really nothing to worry about. Great compressor!

A near perfect compressor for a home owner.

Maximum has really been impressing me with their quality of product. This compressor is proof in this. Operation is dead silent especially compared to an Mastercraft. I love how the there is bleeder valve that is easy to access. I would have preferred if the accessory bin didn’t have the product specific cut outs. I bought the mastercraft accessory set and it almost works but no info was included to tell you what properly marries to the “cubby”. The handles is telescopic and feels and it’s clamps feel solid and professional. Would have like just a little more horsepower from this guy for painting or sandblasting. Can get away with it if you do it in bursts. For an everyday homeowner like me, it does a great job, and feels like good quality. It makes me trust a brand like maximum.

Q: Does ths one have whisper-tech like it is shown in the second photo (ie. with the other compressors in the family)??

  • A: No, it's not whisper tech. It is 70dBA, as listed in the description. I measured the sound level of this unit and it is was pretty quiet at 72dBA from 2 ft away. My old unit was 83dBA, which was painfully loud. Whisper tech is available on the 2 gallon unit with a rated 62dBA

Q: Can this run subfloor staplers for 80 sheet projects. Can this run roofing nailers. Can this run framing nailers. Can this run a carpet/ upholstery tracker. If so I’ll take it!

  • A: Yes to the framing nailer and carpet/ upholstery nailer. Never used it for subfloor nailer but im sure it would handle it. Also very quiet.

  • A: Why do you not recommend for sprinkler blowouts?  Simply stating that this machine is not recommended for a task is not particularly helpful without stating the reason.  I would like to use this to blow out my single zone four-head sprinkler and I'd like to know why this is not recommended.

Q: MAXIMUM Compressor # 058-1979-0. @70 psi on tool side gauge, before using air, constantly cycles between 150 psi &110 psi on tank gauge. Before using, unit blows air through Orifice on pressure regulator body constantly recycling & blowing off air.

  • A: Thanks for reaching out! Please follow the instructions on how to correct this below. Before each start-up: 1. Set the ON/OFF switch (C) to the OFF position. 2. Turn the air pressure regulator knob (E) counter-clockwise until it stops. 3. Attach hose and accessories. How to start: 1. Close the tank drain valve (I). 2. Plug in the power cord (K). 3. Set the ON/OFF switch (C) to the ON position and allow tank pressure to build. The motor will stop when tank pressure reaches “cut-out” pressure. 4. Turn the air pressure regulator knob (E) clockwise until desired pressure is reached. 5. The compressor is ready for use.
