Snow Peak Rated

The 3 Peak Mountain Snowflake symbol indicates the tire is rated for Severe Snow Service. This is the acceptable standard for winter driving in Canada and provides improved safety on snow and ice.

Perfect snow tires

Replaced my 10 year old winter tires. What a huge difference I went from living in the city where we had little snow to living in the countryside where we have had a lot of snow. Needed a different style of winter tires for this. So glad we picked them.

Very impressive! You won't go wrong with these.

Noise: 5/5 Handling: 4.5/5 Traction: Ice (4/5), Snow(4.5/5) Performance: 4.5/5 Durability: 3/5 (Not 11/32 treads, instead of 9mm i can only measure 6mm brand new which will surely have an impact on durability) Firstly i am very impress by the overall quality of these tires for the prices (on sale at 30% off). The first thing i've noticed immediately compared with my BF Goodrich tires is the noise. Theses tires are so silent and running smooth on the roads that i can practically say they're noiseless. Now for the performance part, i was really surprised by the handling and traction provided. To be honest i wasn't expecting these to perform more then any average low cost winter tires but they proved me so wrong. On snow they are performing as good as some of the most high rated brand and on ice they doing very good also. I've tried to get them to loose traction while doing 40-50km (in a safe place) with some pretty hard left and right without success. I was about to go for some Michelin before i saw these on 30% off sale so i've started looking into it and saw that they were made by Hankook for canadien tire. After looking into the reviews i decided to give them a try and man i don't regret my decision. De only con for these tires for me and the reason i took a star off would be the treads depth which is supposed to be at 11/32'' which is around 9mm deep but only has around 6mm which is pretty low for new tires. This will surely impact the lifespan of these tires, unless the rubber is more durable and wear less quicker which i can't say for now as they're still new. I had my BF Goodrich for 5 winters and could probably had done this winter too but decided to buy new ones for more safety. And to be honest just by the tread depth on these Winter Edge II, i don't expect them to last that long. I'd say i could get 3 maybe 4 years out of them...but like i said the durability may surprise me in long term. In overall these are awesome tires as in term of performance for the price if you get them on sale. And after trying them in most condition now i would highly recommend them to anyone not into braking the bank for good performance winter tires! You won't go wrong with these... P.S.(To take advantage about the warranty you need to have them installed at canadian tire, something no one ever told me about when i picked them up)

Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: What does directional design mean

2 Answers
  • A: Means that the tire has been designed to rotate most effectively in one direction (and must be dedicated to a specific side of the vehicle). The tires must be installed correctly for the left side vs the right side of your vehicle as they are different.

Q: what is the mileage rating on these tires

2 Answers
  • A: Its a snow tire, so it has more silicone and that makes it softer. Its best to install them on a spare set of rims and install when it snows and remove when the snow is gone if you want them to last.

Q: The store said these start at just 9/32" tread depth, is this right?? Not much tread if so, which means they won't last long. or is it 9mm? Please advise

Q: How long will these tires last

1 Answer
  • A: Hi Nina! Winter tires do not usually come with mileage rating. The life of the tires depends on road conditions, temperature, how long you have them installed, etc. We recommend checking the tread depth each year and replacing the tires if the tread depth is at or below 4/32" for safety and performance. 2/32" is the minimum tread depth for tires.

Q: Is this one absolutely worth it for Ottawa winter? Thank you!

1 Answer
  • A: This tire seems to test better than most top tier tire brands and carries the 3PMSF certification so should be adequate. Their manufacturer, Hankook, makes great winter tires.
