    Product Details

When you have to drive in serious snow, get the traction and handling you need with the General Tire Altimax Arctic 12-Studdable Winter Tire. It provides superior winter traction and control through a directional tread and multi angle blocks that grip snow and ice with ease and help reduce the risk of hydroplaning. With stud holes so you can add studs for extra lateral traction, this tire is built to carry you safely and securely through Canadian winters.

    Snow Peak Rated

The 3 Peak Mountain Snowflake symbol indicates the tire is rated for Severe Snow Service. This is the acceptable standard for winter driving in Canada and provides improved safety on snow and ice.

    Mud And Snow Rated

The M+S symbol differentiates an All-Season tire from a Summer only tire. While rated for light snow, they will not match a winter tire for traction or stopping distance on snow and ice.

    Accepts Studs

This tire can have studs installed to provide additional mechanical traction on icy surfaces. Studded tires are prohibited by law in many provinces. Ask at your local Canadian Tire store.

    • An interwoven centre tread with straight siping provides a rigid structure for great steering response and stable dry handling in low winter temperatures

    • The directional tread design offers exceptional water evacuation and hydroplaning resistance for excellent wet and snow performance

    • Tire will accept studs for additional winter grip; check with your local store on provincial regulations regarding the use of studs

    • Multi-angle block edges allows the tire to have gripping edges in all directions for additional lateral traction and maneuverability in snow and ice

Fantastic Tire- Quiet, great traction and fantastic price.

This is my first winter with them. Great traction on snow and ice. No slippage noted at all when cornering, braking or accelerating. Priced well below Bizzack and Michelin X-Ice as well. I have owned both of those in the past. These tires are just as good in my opinion.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    Questions

    1 - 8 of 8 Questions

Q: Is the tire performance and wear impacted if not using the studs. As in do the holes affect the performance versus a tire that doesn’t have the holes in it?

    3 Answers
    • A: No — the presence of stud holes alone does not meaningfully reduce tire performance or accelerate wear when you run them without studs.

Q: is this tires and rims

    3 Answers
    • A: No, it is NOT tires AND rims. It is just for the tires. You buy the tires and they put them on your rims.

Q: How much does it cost to get studs installed? Have never owned any. Thanks

    • A: Hi! You can contact the store nearby for pricing. You can also choose the pre-studded option for General Altimax Arctic 12 by searching "General Altimax Arctic 12 Studded". "Studded" indicates they are already studded by the manufacturer. Thank you!

Q: What is the UTQG rating for these tires? (Traction, temperature, and treadwear)

    2 Answers
    • A: Quote from a tire manufacturer. "UTQG markings are not required for deep-treaded light truck tires, winter/snow tires, temporary spare tires, trailer tires, and tires under 12-inches in diameter" Because they're meant for winter conditions, a valid UTQG code compared to a summer tire is not possible. Winter tires typically have a softer runner compound for the colder temperature. This would result in accelerated wear if used in summer. However from experience (2 sets) I can say the the Altimax are a very good winter tire with the first set lasting me 5-6 winters
