Are pool filters universal?

No, pool filters are not universally interchangeable. They come in different types and sizes to suit various pool setups and filtration needs. Installing a pool filter that is too small or too large for your pool’s needs can lead to inadequate filtration, poor water quality and potential equipment damage. Can you clean and reuse a pool filter?

Yes, pool filter cartridges and DE filters can be cleaned and reused. It’s recommended to clean pool filters after 6 months of use.

How often to replace your pool filter?

It’s recommended to replace pool filter cartridges and pool filter sand about every 3-5 years. To determine if it’s time for a replacement, keep an eye on the cleaning frequency, water quality, and signs of filter damage.

How do above-ground pool filters work?

Above-ground pool filters work by removing debris, contaminants, and particles from pool water to help maintain water clarity and quality. For example, sand filters consist of a tank filled with a bed of specially graded sand which traps and filters out particles in pool water. Cartridge filters are another type of above-ground pool filter. The cartridges contain pleated spun polyester, which traps particles as water flows through them. Lastly, DE filters use a fine powder made from diatomaceous earth to trap and filter out particles in pool water.
