optional thermostat not included; besides, if bought, it wouldn't turn heater off

Did not install. I hadn't noticed that it didn't come with a thermostat, and the web page didn't say so. When I looked at what built-in thermostats could be installed into the heater, the only one available was one that you pressed up and down to change the heat setting, and could not turn it off. I wanted a dial with the ability to turn off.

STELPRO Technique
Unfortunately, the built-in thermostat for the Prima baseboards does not have an off position. The SIBTE12C is the only built-in thermostat available for the Prima baseboards. However, the Stelpro Brava baseboards offer the double pole built-in thermostat SIBT2W which has an OFF position when set to minimum.

Q: Is there any heat that comes out from the top like the Dimplex.

A: Yes, the top is perforated. Cool air comes in bottom, up across element and fins and out the top. I also have the Dimplex with top exit and it has wider openings on top making it easier for little things to fall in. It is supposed to sense if something like a towel falls on top but I’ve. Or tested it.

Q: Can I connect this to a Stelpro thermostat already in place? How many square feet will this warm (it is for a bedroom 10' X 12')

A: If you are just replacing an old baseboard that was already connected to the thermostat then yes, it will be an easy switch. If not, you will need an electrician to run the wire from the thermostat. Generally you want 10watts per square foot so you may want to go with a 1500w heater instead of a 1000w.
