Stelpro SIBTE12C Built-in Electronic Thermostat For Brava & Prima Electric Baseboards

Its a digital thermostat, but the digital display doesn't change, it just blinks different colors! For $75 I expected alot more.

Bought this in combination with a Brava 500W heater to replace an aging baseboard heater in our foyer with a built in mechanical thermostat that seemed to stay on for long periods of time. The installation process wasn't difficult despite what I've read online. The ribbon is delicate, however, and needs to be handled carefully. The device itself is easy to operate and fairly intuitive. I initially thought it had a screen on it, but realized before purchasing that it didn't. This is fine with me. But it would be a nice feature to include for the future. Also, the install requires you to use a sticky to adhere the controls too the front panel, and while it does also clip in, this doesn't scream longevity in my opinion. So when buying a thermostat for a baseboard heater, I imagine it should last basically the life of the heater. I am sure my 30 year old analog one was original to the heater. Will you get 30 years of use out of this? I sure hope so. If it does I would change this to 5 stars. The LEDs on the front are only on for a few seconds, so this is nice. Most importantly for me, it has a lock mode so my toddler doesn't have access to changing the temperature. Huge safety plus for parents of young ones. And it should provide more even heat and less power consumption with less swings up and down. But, that price. It seems over priced for what it is. I'll refer to my earlier statement, if it lasts 30 years. It is small fry stuff. One more thing to note you CAN install it on either side.

It seems to be working fine. The 5°C setting is nice for preventing an area from freezing. If the power goes off/on it defaults to this, which is good for areas that aren't able to be attended to often (like when the home owner is away). The install instructions are rather poor. It is also very cramped within the Stelpro heater wiring box.

I thought that this was a pure digital control for my baseboard heaters. I found out after install that, while it is digital, the "screen" is only 3 buttons. That 20 degrees C is a preset button to get it to 20 degrees C. I wrongly assumed that it would give the current temperature readout/setpoint. I would say stick with the standard knob control, far cheaper and easier to control then this.

There is no installation panel in the kit, so you will cut all openings and bolt holes yourself, confusing instructions, heater can not be turned off
