Varathane Professional Clear Finish enhances the natural beauty of wood while providing the best scratch and stain resistance available. Varathane Professional Clear Finish is ideal for all interior projects such as furniture, doors, cabinets, and trim. Over twice as durable as traditional wood finishes, Professional Clear Finish adds a warm, golden glow to your project. It has the fastest dry time of any oil-based polyurethane and is self leveling to save you time.

Up to 50% harder than conventional polyurethane
Fast drying - able to apply 3 coats in one day
Clear with slightly amber finish

A: Hi, Great question! The shininess of our Varathane Professional Wood Finish will depend on the sheen you choose to clear coat your project. This one in particular is a gloss finish and will appear shiny.

A: I have not tried what you suggest. But I would not recommend mixing the oil base and water base products. If you really want to do this, I would suggest testing the combination on a sample size piece to see if you like the result.

Q: Are you sure this product is suitable for use on floors? The manufacturer does not say it is on their web site, they recommend other products for floors.

A: Hi John709, The good news is you can use our Varathane Professional Clear Finish for small areas on the floor. However, if you have a large area to cover, the alternative is our Varathane ProFinisher Clear Finish Oil-Based or our Varathane Diamond Wood Finish Floor Oil-Based.

A: Varathane Professional is an excellent way to finish any interior wood surface. Though non-toxic once dry, Varathane Professional is not designed for application to surfaces that will come into direct contact with food. A cutting board would be recommended for preparing food items on a surface coated with Varathane Professional.
