I bought this and it works great, Easy to install. It was on sale, even better. Red and green lights come on shortly followed by red charging, When charged green for maintain. Short plug not a problem, added an extension.

Plug cord is far too short

The cord that you would use to plug in the charger is far too short for the unit to be mounted in most engine bays. The bays are fairly crowded now near the front of the car to mount the unit and have the cord hang out - work fine if you open the hood all the time to plug it in (trying to install for an older lady, so trying to make it "simple to operate"). Will most likely be returning the unit.

Q: is this unit meant to be attached to battery and left there for all seasons? I bought a lousy Can. Tire battery that dies in low temp. ( -7) Since charging a battery in freezing temps. is so much fun, thought I would try this.

A: This is a 1.5 amp charger/maintainer. It is best suited for charging and maintaining small batteries. This is a very low output charger and it could take several days to fully charge the battery. Another possibility is that you have a heavy load on the battery that is slowing down the charger to reach a full level. I will recommend starting the car once a week.
