The plug-in cord is way too short when used under the hood. You have to purchase a short extension cord to have the male plug sit outside the front end of your vehicle so a person can plug the charger in on cold days.

Nice simple charger, but short cords

Looks like it would be a good charger, but the charging leads and cord are both too short for my application so I couldn’t use it. Ended up using a NOCO on board maintainer that had 6’ cord to be able to reach across the engine bay to plug into extension cord with block heater cord.

Q: is this unit meant to be attached to battery and left there for all seasons? I bought a lousy Can. Tire battery that dies in low temp. ( -7) Since charging a battery in freezing temps. is so much fun, thought I would try this.

A: This is a 1.5 amp charger/maintainer. It is best suited for charging and maintaining small batteries. This is a very low output charger and it could take several days to fully charge the battery. Another possibility is that you have a heavy load on the battery that is slowing down the charger to reach a full level. I will recommend starting the car once a week.
