Minuscules batteries LR44 qui ne durent pas longtemps. Il faut l’éteindre immédiatement après l’usage car bien qu’il soit « intelligent », il ne s’éteint pas tout seul. Heureusement j’ai acheté lors d’un gros rabais et fait provision de batteries.

good meter with caveats

The meter itself is good, I just have issues with a few things. the probes have insulation that go almost to the tips, so it makes it impossible to insert into a socket to see if there is voltage. the meter is light, so if you're working in a tight place and need the meter to be in a specific position to read it, moving the leads to make measurements moves the meter so you can't see the face of the meter.

Q: The tips in the picture are significantly longer than the actual item itself. It doesn't seem the plastic part just below the tip comes off, unless I'm not seeing it. Does anyone know if the plastic part comes off to make the metal tip longer?

A: I was disappointed by the short tips to. After studying the picture on the CT web site, I decided the portion from the raised finger stop to the tip must come off. It didn't seem so at first but after lightly running a sharp knife around the groove in the plastic the extra plastic cover slid right off exposing over 3/4" of metal tip. The plastic piece slides back on when you don't need the extra length.

Q: My smart meter keeps turning off & replaced the batteries & still the same. Seems like it only works when it’s in a warm building anyone else have this problem?

A: I had the same problem. I changed the batteries and it worked. I have not used it lately so not sure now it is warmer if that helped

A: It is a great little tester. It automatically adjusts itself to what you are testing. It does test for ohms, it beeps and worth every penny!

Q: On startup, 8 function icons on top of the display flash for a few seconds, but when I manually select through the functions, the corresponding icon for continuity and NCV don't show up but the rest do. Is this normal or is my display defective?

A: According to the manual, and the meter itself in use, it only auto-detects voltage and resistance, not any of the other functions. Those other functions need to be manually selected, and the appropriate icon shows up on the top of the display. In my case, not all of those icons show up, so the display may be faulty. I'll just exchange it at the store to see what's what.

A: The CTC# 052-0726 Smart Meter has Hz frequency function. Please refer to page 9 of the instruction manual for more details. The instruction manual can be found on the product landing page on the CTC website.

Q: the instruction manual said that "Reading are accurate for a period of 1 year after CALIBRATION at 18 to 28C......" How about 1 year later, how should the smart meter be calibrated? If not , how about the accuracy?

A: Normally there is no need to calibrate the product. The accuracy will only be affected by high temperature, high humidity and extremely low temperature.
