Bought the 2-pk, first one malfunctioned after a couple of years. Put in new battery and kept beeping. Installed the second one and it kept beeping as well with new battery. Defective from the get go. Half a star.

the safest purchase ever

i redid my house this year and replaced all the old smoke detectors.now when my family and i are sleeping i feel so much better.i know they work,because when we open the oven door they always go off.yes annoying but still gives me a piece of mind my family is safe.

A: 9 Volt battery are required ( one per alarm so since a 2pk = 2 batteries) They are included in the box at the time of purchase.

Q: just detects smoke particles or also detects ionization? just wanted to know if this product detects both types since there is a window on the product which usually means it can detect ionization.

A: This is an ionization alarm only. (ionization is better for flaming fires).
