NOT GAS RESISTANT!!

I used the gloss version of this product refinishing some motorcycle fairings after applying Dupli-Color dark emerald green metallic paint. Nice fluid ready to spray consistency with good coverage. Two coats of paint and two coats of clear and I had what I thought was a really nice fresh looking set of fairings. Reinstalled the fairings and the tank. But spilled a tiny amount of gasoline on the tank only to have the brand new finish, which had cured for a month and a half, blush, so not happy with this particular product. I would have thought that an automotive clear coat would not have an issue with small gasoline spills and was very disappointed. Luckily, they had a 1K clear, only sold in aerosol cans only, that I was able to apply over the damaged clear after sanding it, and it turned out quite nice in the end. My thought is why don't they sell the 1K clear as the clear coat for the paint system since it is gas resistant-did a spot test of the 1K to be sure.

No, I do not recommend this product.

It's ok, looks better than it did before. this is with black primer. if you use gray primer it comes out turquois

Pretty inexpensive prime, but make sure you stir very well prior to leading in the gun. Lots of sediment. Good otherwise.

Paint Shop System is pretty darn good and cost effective. But, you need to grab it while you can because I have been told that it is being banned in Canada and there is no substitution right now.

  • A: I’m not sure about this but my experience with this paint is it is total garbage and should not even be sold. Don’t walk away from it run as fast as you can. I got no satisfaction when I contacted Duplicolor directly.

  • A: Automotive paint must be spray applied. The Paint Shop could be applied with an HVLP or Conventional sprayer.

Q: Is this product safe to use over regular Enamel paint? or will it cause my paint to bubble up?

  • A: Dupli-Color Paint Shop is a lacquer based system. Lacquers are not typically compatible over enamel paint and could cause the coating to wrinkle/bubble.
