A: Thanks Doug, Dennis and John! Thank you for the replies and the helpful info ! I did check the manual very carefully before asking, it says "Motorcraft MERCON LV ATF" is required. What actually caused the confusion is the CanadianTire website, which keeps saying this product does not fit my Fusion 2012 in a popup message. I also checked a few other websites, which give the same warning message - "not fit .....". I then checked with my mechanic who told me this product is good for my car but he did not know why CanadianTire website says no. I got confused but did not have a chance to go to a store to ask so I posted a message here ... glad to see the replies so quickly! Thanks again!

A: Castrol Transmax Full Synthetic Multi-Vehicle ATF is suitable for use in applications that call for ATF+4 transmission fluid. Castrol does NOT recommend mixing different ATF products as Castrol cannot guarantee compatibility with competitive fluids as we do not know their proprietary formula. Therefore, we recommend a complete drain of the transmission and re-fill with just one product. This should include draining the torque converter which holds about one-half of the ATF volume -- dropping the pan will not cause the torque converter to drain. You may find directions for draining the torque converter online or you may wish to have this service performed for you by a service facility.

This information can be found in the vehicle's owner's manual or by contacting the manufacturer directly. Before using any lubricant, ensure that the lubricant product specifications meet or exceed the lubricant specifications required by the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) for that specific use. According to Castrol's Recommendations Guide recommended for a 2004 Volvo XC90 2.5L 5-cyl Turbo is fluid meeting Toyota T-IV (JWS3309). Castrol Transmax Full Synthetic Multi-Vehicle ATF is suitable for use where Toyota T-IV (JWS3309) is specified and may be used in your application. Castrol cannot guarantee compatibility with competitive fluids as we do not know their proprietary formula; therefore, we recommend a complete drain of the transmission and refill with Castrol Transmax Full Synthetic Multi-Vehicle ATF. This should include draining the torque converter, which holds about one-half of the ATF volume -- dropping the pan will not cause the torque converter to drain. Q: I have a 2014 Ford Focus with a 6 speed duel clutch automatic. Does this fluid conform to WSS-M2C200-D2 that Ford lists for it's DPS6 transmission?

Castrol always recommends following the guidelines of the original engine manufacturer for the recommended fluid for use in your specific application. This information can be found in the vehicles owner’s manual or by contacting the manufacturer directly. For a 2014 Ford Focus 2.0L 4-cyl with a DPS6 automatic transaxle, fluid meeting Dual Clutch Transmission Fluid, Motorcraft P/N XT-11-QDC meeting Ford Spec WSS-M2C200-D2 is required. Only special lubrication fluid that can be obtained from your local Ford dealer is recommended for use. Only Ford is able to identify the equivalent performance aspect and/or make a recommendation for an appropriate alternate product if available. Please contact Ford for further assistance and to ensure that you service your vehicle with the correct fluid.
