What are shin guards in hockey?

Shin guards are a key piece of protective hockey equipment that protect legs from the knee down. Shin guards are made of hard material with padding to absorb blows and prevent injuries to players' knees and shins, allowing them to play more confidently and stay on the ice longer, even when the game gets intense.

What size hockey shin guards do I need?

Hockey shin guards are sized like other hockey equipment by age group. Youth sizes are for ages 3 to 8; junior sizes are for 7 to 13; and senior sizes are for ages 13 and up.

What shin guards do NHL players wear?

NHL players wear the same style of shin guards as all hockey players, with the specific brand based on personal preference, sometimes wearing what’s recommended by their coaching staff or sponsors.

Should I wear something over my hockey shin guards?

Players generally wear hockey socks over their shin guards. Hockey socks are an important thing to have because they help hold shin guards in place during a game and help identify players based on their colours.
