What are the different types of electrical plugs?
Grounded and ungrounded plugs are the most common household plugs. Ungrounded plugs are light duty and have 2 prongs, while grounded plugs are heavier duty and have 3 prongs. Some 3-pronged varieties of plugs are meant for RVs and can be turned to lock into a receptacle. Plugs can come in straight and angle varieties.

What are the different types of electrical connectors?
Much like plugs, grounded and ungrounded are the two main types of electrical connectors.

What are the different types of adapters?
The two main types of adapters are plug adapters and power adapters. Plug adapters plug into wall receptacles to provide extra outlets, easy switching, or other features. Power adapters typically convert alternating current into direct current to power connected devices such as laptops and electronic accessories.

What features should I look for in electrical plugs and adapters?
You will want to make sure the amperage and voltage match what you'll be using it for. Features like built-in smart chips can be useful for controlling connected devices. Some plugs have built-in lights that make them easy to find in dim spaces and let you check to make sure they're functioning properly.

How can I use electrical plugs and adapters safely?
Never use plugs and adapters with incompatible power sources, and always ensure you are not drawing more current or amps than it is designated to deliver. If a plug is visibly damaged or gets hot under normal loads, then it should be replaced. Grounded plugs and adapters are generally safer and reduce the odds of shocks or damaging connected electronics.
