What is an RV holding tank?

An RV comes with three different holding tanks: the black water tank, the gray water tank, and the fresh water tank. The black water tank holds waste from the toilet, while the gray water tank holds water that goes down your sink and shower drains. The fresh water tank holds sanitized and potable water.

How do you maintain an RV holding tank?

To maintain your RV water tanks, you should regularly flush along with cleaning and sanitizing them to keep your RV’s septic system running smoothly. When you empty out the black and grey tanks, they must be full or almost full. After emptying and flushing the tanks, add water and treat the tanks with holding tank treatments. Before each trip, it’s recommended that you deep clean your holding tanks.

Additional information for residents of Quebec only: The regular annual rate for persons applying for the Triangle Mastercard and the Triangle World Elite Mastercard is 21.99% for cash transactions and related fees and 21.99% for all other charges. The minimum payment is the sum of (a) the greater of: (i) interest and fees shown on your statement + $10; or (ii) 5% of the New Balance, excluding amounts on special payment plans, (b) any balance over your credit limit, (c) any amounts past due not included in (b) above, and (d) the amount of any equal payments plan instalments then due.
