Water and Mold proofing cement block interior walls

Needed for water and mold proofing cement block walls in my basement. Went on thin and will need a second coat... perhaps third but a necessity.

Thanks for the feedback Edward! Two or three coats of the WaterTite LX Waterproofing Paint is recommended, as this can be dependent on the surface and job requirements to form a continuous pinhole free coating.
Apply the first coat using a high quality synthetic brush or 20 mm (¾”) nap roller. WaterTite LX
can be spray applied with an airless sprayer or conventional sprayer. Follow manufacturer’s application instructions. If using a roller, back brush the first coat to work the coating into the concrete pores. It is more important to work the first coat into the surface than for it to hide the substrate. The second coat can be rolled or brushed on. For very porous or rough surfaces, a third
coat may be required if pin-holes are evident. We hope this helps with your project!

Q: What coverage should be expected on cement block, indoors; for the first coat and second coat?

A: I do not know the dimensions of the area you wish to cover. what I can tell you is that we did an area 20x8 plus a ceiling the area was already painted and it took 2 gallons of paint. I suspect bare walls will take more.

A: Hi Kathryn, Our Zinsser Hydraulic Cement needs to cure for 28 days before painting overtop. Our Zinsser WaterTite Mould & Mildew Waterproofing Oil-Based Paint is recommended as a topcoat.

Q: When used on a concrete basement floor both on bare concrete and already painted concrete can it be painted over with regular concrete floor paint?

Our Zinsser WaterTite LX is guaranteed for 10 years from the date of application to provide protection of the dried paint film from mould & mildew when two coats are applied according to label directions. Application of other paint coatings other than PERMA-WHITE® Mould & Mildew-Proof™* paints nullifies the mould & mildew protection portion of this warranty.

Q: Hi, Can WaterTite LX Mould & Mildew-Proof Waterproofing Paint be used on concrete candle vessels. I use cement all for the molds, let them cure and then would apply your product. Afterwards I pour wax in them. There is never any direct heat from lit wick

A: Hi, Great question! We have not tested our Zinsser WaterTite Lx Waterproofing Paint on concrete candle vessels. While this product was deigned for concrete and masonry, this is something you would have to test on your own. Remember, it's best to test on a small area first.

A: Hi Ddee, We do not recommend applying WATERTITE-LX over existing paints as the waterproofing performance will be dependent on the integrity and moisture resistance of the previous paint.
