      Works perfect for a small yard!

      3 years ago
      Updated: After owning this for a few years now, I can definitely say that it is worth every 1 of the 5 Stars I rated it. It mulches very well; the mulch-plug is easy to install and remove. It bags very well, even with long wet grass. I have used it to mulch & bag gardening vegetation throughout the growing season, so that I can easily use the mower bag to dump my mulched vegetation into my composter. I has 6 different height settings, and is easily adjustable. You can EASILY carry it with one hand. It is compact, light-weight and cleans-up easily with a garden hose. The mulching bag has worked flawlessly and is easily washed. I've never had one concern about the quality of cut - and have never even thought about sharpening the blade. The cord connection and retainer clip work perfectly: once you plug it in, the connected extension cord does not come apart until you take it apart. You can use a 2, or 3-hole extension cord; the male plug cover will fit many sizes and styles of female ended extension cords.

      Yes, I recommend this product.

      Works, and then it doesn't

      6 years ago
      Bought one of these on sale about 3 years ago. First year, ran and cut flawlessly. I cleaned out the bottom and deck and stored for winter in outdoor shed. Second season, ran fine for a half season, then suddenly one day wouldn't run. Since it was past warranty, I opened it up a found the motor chamber full of cutting debris. Cleaned it all out and removed the debris around the motor brushes (fire hazard?) and it ran again for the rest of season. Third season, ran when first activated but after releasing the power switch, it wouldn't run again. Opening up this time, there wasn't much cuttings and brushes were clear of debris. Checking continuity with an ohmmeter, discovered the spring-loaded motor brushes jammed in their sleeves. Had to pull them out and free the barely worn brushes, making sure they freely slide in their sleeves. Mower now runs like new, even sounds quieter. This never happened with my 25yr old electric mower the Yardworks replaced. I think the Yardworks motor chamber is not sealed properly and evidently the motor is not designed to be exposed to debris and moisture. This shouldn't have to be a yearly maintenance procedure.

      Worked for 30 seconds

      Returned it the day we assembled it and tried it for the first time. It ran for 30 seconds, turned off, and never turned back on.

      Great for the price

      Nice inexpensive electric mower. Bought it on sale. I have 1/3 acre about 1/2 of which is grass. Works fine for me but you have to keep on top of the mowing. If you neglect it and it gets too high well this is a 10amp motor not a big gas mower.

      Broken handle;

      7 years ago
      I bought this lawnmower only 2 years ago brand new at. Canadian Tire . It did an ok job cutting the grass for the price. A bit finicky because the handle has to be angled at a certain height or it will cut the motor. The side handles pooped right off and I couldn’t put it back together. And let me tell you that I used this lawnmower hardly ever. I could not find any phone numbers for « »Yardworks ». I needed up throwing out the lawnmower. Waste of money.

      No, I do not recommend this product.

      Q: Can I use a 3 pronged cord? my problem is still that the lawnmower has 2 prongs but all 14 gauge cords have 3 prongs. Is it safe to use a 3 prong extension cord with a 2 pronged device?

      Q: What cord am I supposed to use? I just bought this mower. The manual in one spot states a 16 gage is the minimum extension cord but elsewhere suggests 14 gage is recommedned. Problem is the machine is 2 pronged and I cannot find any 14 gage 2 pronged cords in this store.

      1 Answer
      • A: Thank you for your question. Since this is a 10 Amp mower, you can use a 14 gage cord; however, it should be 100 ft in length. Please refer to page 18 of the owner's manual.
