no it's a great product!

Actually, I beg to differ, I've used nearly the exact same product with success for over five years, strapping kayaks to VW OEM roof racks with no failure whatsoever. That's why I bought four more when they went on sale. Trick is, once you know how they operate, they're more versatile than the ones with hooks.

this is very overpriced and built rather cheaply. releasing the ratchet is very difficult. i bought a similar tie down but longer from princess-auto for $5 and that works a lot better than this.
