    Great disappointment

I have been using tents for camping for the past 30 years. Over the years I have been buying regularly tents. Some of them light and compact for long portage and some of them more oriented for comfort. When I saw that tent I was so anxious to try it. The idea of combining the tent and a hammock did sound like a good idea. After watching all the video I could find and reading the manuals I thought I was ready and the hardest part would be to find the right trees at the correct distance. I was so convince I was buying good quality product and I would get such a great experience I was ready just to close my eyes on the price and did not believe in some bad reviews. Finding the good trees and setting up the tent was easy. The tent look good and it was easy to assemble. Not long after even before I got inside the tent the roof collapsed. The three aluminum poles are week and attached to the flexible insect mesh. The construction will work for a while for as long as there is no wind. Under the pressure of the wing the poles will start to twist and the insect mesh and rain cover will go down. In the video https://youtu.be/RsOkhoFWfLc you will see the roof going down and even if this is easy to fix once inside I had to hold the poles most of the night. There is a flaw in the design and I did not find any way to fix the issue. One other issue with this tent is the rain cover is too short and does not provide adequate protection against the rain. If there is some wind while raining large quantity of water will get in the tent. I have seen some video of similar tents from Tentsile where they could bend under the rain cover. This version does not allow doing that and the rain cover is basically flush to the floor. In the features description they say “2 adults and 2 children”. Two children cannot occupy the space of one adult. The floor is reinforced with straps and creates 3 hammock like depressions. Even two children of small size will be falling in the same spot. The maximum load for the tent is 880lbs. This is probably true for the straps and ratchets but after spending a night I could see some obvious stretch marks on the floor mat at the seams. From my own experience I would evaluate that no one in that tent should weight more than 160 lbs. I did appreciate the suspended floor and it was quite comfortable. I thought the strap under the floor did provide a good head rest. The temperature at night was around 14˚C and I did feel the cold in my back. I still believe this type of tent could work but it will require some redesign. Product was returned to store.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Has potential but need to improve the quality slightly

I bought this tent after watching the more expensive Tentsile version for over a year. The quality of the plastic hooks and latches are low quality. Charge $10-$20 more and have clips that will last in every day use. Even thought I bought it on sale I returned it, deciding it wou't stand up. Maybe with version 2.0, the quality will improve. Also the poles dont seem to stay in place as well as they should. I like the concept, just need to work our a few bugs. Then I will consider buying it. The base seemed good. I was suprised to see the fly is added on after but understand with the straps needing to be pulled. Please fix the quality issues so I can buy it again.

    Finicky Fly

I bought this tent for a solo kayak camping trip. It was not difficult to setup. The fly kept collapsing the aluminum poles as soon as I got into tent, both with and without tension bungees. I am 6'3" and found it difficult to find a super comfy sleeping position. The customer service at Tentsile(manufacturer of tent) was amazing with support regarding setup tips. For the $ it is expensive compared to ground tents and certainly not worth it. Compared to other Tentsile products the cost is significantly lower. I am not sure if other Tentsile models are any better. The tree tent did provide a good sun and rain shelter under it. It also kept very clean from sand and dirt in comparison to ground tents. I really loved the concept and still do, but the product is just Ok.

No, I do not recommend this product.
