These are very comfortable chairs. I always get a sore back sitting in the hammock type chairs. Not with this one. The little bit of movement allows for extended seating.

A: Probably fine in sand until you would have to pack it up. The bottom rails glide closed and sand could impeed it, grinding up the rails.
