Hard to Find

Why does CTC sell Whirlpool water softener machines but very few stores have Whirlpool WHEWSC Water Softener Cleanser.
Buying the cleanser at the same time as the water softener extends the warranty.
From Whirlpool web site:
"Extended Coverage (Up to 5/10 Years): To extend the 1-year warranty to 5 years, or the 2-year warranty to 10 years, users must register their product and consistently use the Whirlpool Water Softener Cleanser."

Q: Apart from extending the warranty of the Whirlpool water softener, why is this product better than Iron Out? Iron Out is a fraction of the price per use. Could it be that it is simply a way to lock in an ongoing high margin revenue stream?

A: Rex75 - I still don't know WHAT SPECIFICALLY the Whirlpool Cleanser does that IronOut doesn't to justify its incredibly higher cost. Unless I have credibly sourced information that answers that, I am convinced it is just a high margin revenue generator targeted at gullible consumers.

Q: I'm curious as to the long term effect this product may have on an active septic tank and drainfield.

There are studies that site that the effluent discharge from a water softener benefits the bacteria in a septic system.
